Terra Spike for the Caribbean
No distance is too far for Wiedenmann: For the first time, an attachment from the German manufacturer is being used for lawn care on the Caribbean island of Curaçao.
The Old Quarry Golf Course’s investment in a new Terra Spike GXi6 underscores the importance of deep aerators when restoring green spaces to top condition under demanding conditions.
With this machine, the course operator—which was recently named the best golf club in the Caribbean—is specifically relying on modern technology to regenerate heavily used sports turf. The GXi6 was designed specifically for this purpose and allows for soil aeration down to a depth of 25 cm. The goal is to eliminate compaction and sustainably improve aeration and water infiltration. Especially under conditions like those on Curaçao—characterized by intensive use, high temperatures, and partly sandy soils—a healthy soil structure is crucial for the vitality of the turf. Regular deep aeration promotes root growth and significantly improves nutrient uptake.
The Terra Spike GXi6 is compatible with many compact tractors starting at approximately 25 hp and offers a working width of 1.40 meters. Despite its compact design, the machine achieves high area coverage and is therefore also suitable for larger green spaces. A key feature is the tool-free adjustment of working depth and penetration angle via the QuickSet system. This is complemented by a wide selection of tine variants, which allow adaptation to different soil conditions.
A decisive advantage for golf courses: The gentle operation of the Terra Spike GXi6 has virtually no impact on play. This allows maintenance tasks to be flexibly integrated into the daily schedule—an important factor for economically managed facilities. Worldwide, demand is growing for such solutions for the sustainable and gentle maintenance of high-quality turf.
